I do not usually check social media until later in the day. So, I got a rude shock after receiving this message from my sister…
The main building of the St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market was swallowed by fierce fire today in the wee morning hours. It was definitely a sad day for numerous vendors and many who regularly visit the market as a relaxing and fun weekend ritual.
I went to SJFM for the first time with my mom & godmother when I was two years old. This place holds tons of memories for me, and I still cannot believe that the whole building is gone! However, every cloud has a silver lining – I am already excited about the new building!
You can find the list of vendors’ at their other retail locations here. Thank you to the amazing people who put this spreadsheet together! It has been a shocking but comforting day to see how supportive our local community is. If you would like to help, you can check out Rare Republic’s site.
